Country music legend TG Sheppard returns to his old stomping grounds of Memphis, Tennessee this weekend to honor his late friend and the “King of Rock-n-Roll,” Elvis Presley. Elvis Week 2018, takes place August 12-18 at Graceland, the home of “The King.”
In remembrance of Elvis, Sheppard along with his wife, singer-songwriter Kelly Lang, will perform a full-length concert at Graceland this Saturday, August 18 at 3:00 pm/CT. The live performance is sponsored by Springer Mountain Farms.
“I am very excited that Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland have chosen to add our concert at the Guest House as one of the special events during Elvis Week 2018,” explains Sheppard. “It always feels great to go home to Graceland, a place where I was able to make so many incredible memories with my friend, Elvis.”
“Getting a chance to perform once again at the Guest House at Graceland is a privilege I do not take lightly,” notes Lang. “Once again, I will be able to make ‘memories pressed between the pages of my mind.'”
Sheppard who met Elvis as a runaway teenager outside of a Memphis skating rink went on to become close friends with the icon, even living at Graceland for a few years, after that serendipitous meeting. Serving as a mentor and friend, Elvis bought Sheppard his first tour bus, giving him the push and confidence he needed to pursue his own music career.
Now, with 21 No. 1 hits under his belt, the country music legend will also participate in a panel discussing Elvis’ life and career alongside individuals who knew and worked with him. The panel session takes place this Friday, August 17 at 10:00 am/CT.
