Three-time Grammy award winner Lucinda Williams is set to perform at Ryman Auditorium on April 2, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her highly-influential masterpiece, Car Wheels On A Gravel Road in 2018. Williams will perform the album in its entirety, followed by a second set of songs from throughout her remarkable career.
The influence of Car Wheels On A Gravel Road is strong, and it is considered one of the cornerstones of what is now called Americana. The album went on to win the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album and Rolling Stone has ranked it #304 on their list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
In a long and celebrated career, Lucinda Williams’ art is as genuine and soulful as when she began writing. As Pitchfork said of 2016’s The Ghosts of Highway 20, “She’s a singing testament to sticking around and, at 63, she is more versatile than she’s ever been.” Now in the middle of the most prolific period of her career, Williams’ introspective lyrics and honest vocals continue to connect with fans worldwide.
