Marcus King’s debut solo record El Dorado, Produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, topped multiple charts following its release last week. The album is his fastest selling to date and debuted at number one on several charts, including Top New Artist, Americana Folk, Current Rock, Blues Albums, as well as 12 on the Top Current Albums chart.
Marcus King released his latest video, an acoustic performance of the song “Break.” The video features Dan Auerbach on guitar. Introducing the video, King tells the story of “Break” about two people who are in love, but are in a broken relationship.
King explains, “The one party knows they’re going to hurt the other one because it’s kind of in their way and the other person knows they’re going to be broken hearted. It’s just to kind of say that if you’re going to have your heart broken anyway, at least let me be the one to do so.”
El Dorado, a contemporary exploration of southern R&B, country-soul, classic rock and blues, has established the 23 year old phenom as one of the most soulful voices of his generation. King’s arresting vocals feature as the lead instrument, taking centre stage alongside a genre bending blend of subtle acoustics, bright pedal steel, raucous electric guitars and blistering solos.
King continues his winter and spring world tour with his band, The Marcus King Band followed by a string of dates with Chris Stapleton. We Look forward to seeing King at Bonnaroo this June!
