Old Salt Union Returns To Nashville

Nashville Shows & Events      High Watt Shows

If you missed Old Salt Union at their Music City Roots show a while back, don’t miss their show at the The High Watt in Nashville on August 2nd.  The band will be making their Compass Records self-titled debut on August 4th. With a history of playing 200+ shows a year since forming in 2012, they are a band born, grown and cultivated on the road. Inclusion on key Spotify playlists for their single “Madam Plum” fueled the band’s rapid trajectory, but a pivotal moment emerged when the band won the 2015 Freshgrass band contest and was introduced to Compass Records co-founder, banjo virtuoso and Grammy winning composer, Alison Brown, who went on to produce several tracks for the band and eventually sign them to the label in 2017.

Of working with the band in the studio, producer Brown says, “These post modern bluegrassers are true renegades.  While they look like a bluegrass band, their musical sensibilities run much deeper and broader, borrowing as much from indie rock and jazz fusion as from Bill Monroe.  And, even more exciting to me, they know no fear!   They are wide open musical adventurers and we had a great time experimenting in the studio.”

With a songwriting style and magnetic stage personas that derive as much from the Great American Songbook as from Americana, their self-titled Compass debut represents a true step forward for a band with seemingly limitless possibilities.
